The MacBook is designed to run safely in closed lid mode, but if yours runs hot (perhaps due to overclocking or high ambient temperatures), you may want to open the lid when in closed lid mode: The screen will remain off and the computer will more readily vent heat from the CPU. Since all video RAM is now dedicated to the external monitor, you may have more colors available at higher resolutions. The built-in display will remain off, and the external monitor will become your only display. Your ‘Book will go to sleep, but you can wake it by moving the mouse or using the keyboard. Power up your ‘Book until the desktop appears on the external display and then close the lid.

To used closed lid mode, your ‘Book must be plugged into the AC adapter and connected to an external display and a USB or Bluetooth mouse and keyboard (you might also want to consider external speakers). Other World Computing offers a 3 GB memory upgrade, which is not officially supported by Apple.Ĭlosed Lid Mode: All Intel ‘Books support “lid closed” (or clamshell) mode, which leaves the built-in display off and dedicates all video RAM to an external display.

The new MacBook is available in three configurations: Try it before you decide you want a MacBook. The MacBook is available only with a glossy display and includes an unusual keyboard, which has received mixed reviews.

2006 MACBOOK PRO MEMORY MAC OS X
Our Leopard Forum is for those using Mac OS X 10.5.Our Leopard Group is for those using Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6.Our Tiger Group is for those using Mac OS X 10.4.Got a MacBook, Pro, or Air? Join our MacBook Group. The 1.83 GHz model retains a 2 MB cache, Combo drive, 60 GB hard drive, and 512 MB of RAM. The basic computer remains the same, but the 2.0 GHz models include a twice-as-large 4 MB level 2 cache, 6x dual-layer SuperDrives, larger hard drives, and 1 GB of RAM. There’s no change to CPU speed, but the more efficient Core 2 design means a faster MacBook at the same price as the model it replaces. Overall, that should provide about 10% more power. Now that Apple has solved most of the MacBook’s teething problems, they’ve improved it by replacing the Intel Core Duo CPU with the newer, more energy efficient, cooler running Core 2 Duo. I really don't want to have to go off and try and find memory from another manufacturer and Corsair memory has always served me well in my PCs.įor what it's worth I am unable to test these SO-DIMMs in any other machine but my Mini runs solid as a rock with the SO-DIMMs that were factory installed.Has it already been six months since the original MacBook was introduced? Then it must be time for an upgrade. I just don't see why Corsair's memory which works in notebooks with Intel chipsets and Core Duo CPUs would not work in a MacBook Pro or an Intel Mac Mini. It would be interesting to hear from RAM GUY whether the Intel Mac Minis and MacBook Pros are officially incompatible with Corsair's memory modules or whether he thinks these should work, and we should therefore exchange them with the reseller/RMA.ĮDIT: Apologies if my frustration shows too much in this post. I feel a bit annoyed that Corsair's memory, which is rated just as the motherboard requires, cannot perform and it sounds like this isn't a bad batch I've got, rather a shortcoming of the entire range. I too have since had random reboots and both sticks (when tested as the sole module in the system) failed a memory test (using Rember which wraps memtest). If only I'd stumbled across this thread before I bought two modules of Corsair Value Select (VS1GSDS667D2) for my Intel Mac Mini. I am not sure what I am going to do about mine. I would be surprised if this was a coincidence and we both got bad sticks. I too just put ValueSelect in my MacBook this afternoon and it has rebooted twice since.
